The Bible is Truth, better understood in the correct context

[Jesus speaks:] So it is no wonder that those who arranged the gospel narrative recorded different but still true things, for some of them wrote it down word for word, others captured the sense but not the exact words. Some wrote things they had heard but not seen; others placed earlier events later; others wrote more about my divinity; yet all of them as the Spirit gave them to speak... However, I want you to know that only those evangelists are to be accepted whom the church accepts. Many people attempted to write who had zeal but not in accordance with my knowledge.... the Holy Spirit rises in human hearts like a balance, at one time speaking corporeally, at another spiritually. And he sinks when the human heart is hardened against God. [Saint Bridget,1360]

Most Christians will never read any other material but the New Testament Bible. Throughout my readings, I came across interesting facts about the Gospels. I'll name two of them because they take longer to explain.

In Matthew:19:24 Jesus said: "And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

The Bible reader may think that first-century Jerusalem had a small gate for camels, and rich people are condemned. Personally, I take a different view because of my readings. From the book about Jewish traditions, the author suggested that camel and rope are written the same in Aramaic (Jesus' language). So, Jesus is conveying that a rope cannot go through a needle eye, and He is not referring to a small gate in Jerusalem as previously thought. But before this recent controversy, in 1820, Anne-Catherine Emmerich had a vision of Jesus' preaching behind camel ropes, keeping people at a distance. She saw Jesus upset with the rich farmers as they were not paying fair wages to their paid servants working on their fields. The rich were getting richer by disregarding the welfare of their employees in their greed. That completes the picture of Matthew 19:24. Rich people will make it to heaven if they are fair and just.

In Mark:10:9 Jesus said: "What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder."

A Bible reader may argue against Catholic marriage annulments. The Catholic Church could mention Matthew 16:19: "I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven." Personally, I take a different view because of my readings. Anne-Catherine Emmerich saw Jesus in a synagogue. He was arguing with Jewish priests who had added an extra clause to the divorce law. It said that an ex-girlfriend or ex-boyfriend could split a marriage if she or he chose to do so at any time during the marriage. Jesus wanted this clause removed as no ex, or false witness, was entitled to split a marriage at will.

There are more examples but I will let you discover them in your readings.

Is the Church evolving through time? Yes. The Roman Catholic Church is the body of Christ, interpreting the Bible gospels and clarifying concepts with help of the Holy Spirit, revelations, and apparitions. For example, Saint Thomas Aquinas, in 1250, analysed the Virgin Mary's conception and original sin; but it was the Catholic pope that declared her free of it, officially; confirmed by Mother Mary's apparition in Lourdes, France (1858). On December 8, 1854, Pope Pius IX, Ineffabilis Deus, said:

We declare, pronounce, and define that the doctrine which holds that the most Blessed Virgin Mary, in the first instance of her conception, by a singular grace and privilege granted by Almighty God, in view of the merits of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the human race, was preserved free from all stain of original sin, is a doctrine revealed by God and therefore to be believed firmly and constantly by all the faithful.

From the Council of Ephesus, in 431, we know,

Whosoever brings forth mere flesh, ceases to be a virgin. But since Mary gave birth to the Word made flesh, God safeguarded her virginity so as to manifest His Word, by which Word He thus manifested Himself: for neither does our word, when brought forth, corrupt the mind; nor does God, the substantial Word, deigning to be born, destroy virginity.

So, we now know two facts that are not mentioned in the Gospels. In agreement with Mary of Agreda's book, 'The Mystical City of God' (1650), where Mary gives birth in a religious ecstasy, the same as in Blessed Emmerich's visions (1810).
